Trauma Resiliency Model TRM

The mind-body system is very important in healing trauma.  Trauma not only affects the brain, it also affects the nervous system.  Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach using mindfulness exercises to bring your focus to the various sensations in your body, thereby, allowing you to release any pent-up anxiety, stress, or past trauma that is negatively affecting your physical and emotional well-being.   This process is designed to restore balance to your internal system and increase your resiliency. Clients develop the ability to track their body’s sensations, helping them distinguish distress in the body from sensations of well-being.  You will learn to self-regulate by increasing your ability to stay with the difficult physical sensations that may accompany feelings of being overwhelmed, anxious or depressed.

I use the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) of somatic therapy.  I find that integrating this technique with EMDR and psychodynamic therapy provides a well-rounded, approach to healing trauma.
